FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
April 1, 2024 – Lone Tree, CO – Colorado Orthopedic Surgeon Celebrates 20-year Milestone in Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement Surgery.
As advancements in medical technology continue to redefine surgical procedures, the introduction of Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement stands at the forefront of innovation. By prioritizing patient comfort and satisfaction, surgeons utilizing this technique are providing a tailored approach to each individual’s needs, ensuring optimal results and faster rehabilitation. With its emphasis on precision and minimal disruption, Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement not only offers a smoother surgical experience but also fosters a quicker return to an active lifestyle for patients of all ages.
Unlike traditional approaches, Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement surgery involves accessing the hip joint from the front, which minimizes soft tissue dissection and disruption. This offers numerous benefits to patients including significantly less post-operative pain, quicker recovery times, and improved mobility. This technique preserves key muscles and tissues, minimizing trauma to the surrounding area and allowing patients to return to their daily activities much sooner, with most patients going home the same day or the very next day after surgery.
Leading the Way in Patient-Centered Care
At the forefront of patient-centered care, Dr. Edward Szuszczewicz has been doing Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement for more than 20 years, longer than any other surgeon in Colorado. He was an early adopter of Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement as a preferred method for addressing hip arthritis, and was one of the first ten surgeons in the country to adopt the anterior minimally invasive technique back in 2003. He has spent more than 15 years teaching the technique to other surgeons around the country as a consultant for Biomet (now Zimmer-Biomet) and Omni LifeSciences (now Corin). He has also been actively involved in implant and instrumentation design and development to improve hip and knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Szuszczewicz is fellowship trained and specializes in Hip & Knee Replacement surgery. He has published numerous papers based on his work at the Anderson Orthopedic Clinic/Anderson Orthopedic Research Institute, Tulane University and Harbor-UCLA. His work at Tulane University was recognized with the prestigious Charnley Award for research in hip replacement surgery, the highest award in hip replacement research worldwide.
With its precise and minimally invasive approach, Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement represents a paradigm shift in hip surgery, promising enhanced outcomes and improved quality of life for individuals suffering from hip arthritis.
